Empowerment

As a leading consulting engineering and science company in transformation, the empowerment of our people and the societies within which we work is at the heart of everything we do.

With the company 100% owned by its employees of which 67% is black employee owned, GIBB embraces the objectives and targets set out in the seven pillars of the Construction Sector Charter. To this end we are committed to meeting the transformation agenda required for the sustainable economic development of Africa and her people.

Our empowerment policies are founded on the principles and objectives of the South African Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act of 2003 and focuses on:

  • Corporate Social Investment
  • Employment Equity
  • Enterprise Development
  • Equity Ownership
  • Management Control
  • Preferential Procurement
  • Skills Development

Training

GIBB has always encouraged a non-discriminatory recruitment policy. Our commitment to invest in education and training has led to 65% of our bursary holders categorised as PreviouslyDisadvantaged Individuals (PDI) this year.

In addition, staff undergoes continuous on-the-job training and mentorship as well as in-service training that covers technical and managerial positions.
