GIBB at the CESA Glenrand MIB Engineering Excellence Awards 2010
Consulting Engineers South Africa’s (CESA) acclaimed CESA Glenrand MIB Engineering Excellence Awards was held at the Vodadome in Midrand, Gauteng, on 18 August 2010. As always, this event was a celebration of innovation, quality, outstanding workmanship and professionalism in the industry. Consulting engineering company GIBB was at this celebrated event, which saw the company take home three prestigious honours.
As a proud host of this annual event, CESA, sponsored by Glenrand MIB, uses the Engineering Excellence Awards as a platform to showcase the important role that infrastructure plays in the sustainable development of South Africa.
“As a company, we are very proud of Dennis Forster and his dynamic team from the Cape Town Office who won an award for their work on the electrification and lighting system at the glorious
Cape Town Stadium,” says Richard Vries, Group CEO of GIBB. “Dennis and his team walked away with this accolade in the category ‘Projects between R10 million and R100 million’.”
The CESA Glenrand MIB Engineering Excellence Awards is the highlight of the year in the organisation’s and industry’s calendar and is a brilliant networking opportunity for leaders in industry as they commemorate the best Consulting Engineers the country has to offer. The Awards focus on consulting engineers and their clients who participate in or initiate projects that uphold the progression of our nation and the people of the continent Africa.
“Dr. William Sprong from the Ekurhuleni Office took home the ‘Young Engineer of the Year Award’ for his continued work on the Winnie Mandela Park project in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni, as well as his ongoing commitment to the community at large.”

Following close on South Africa’s successful hosting event, the Excellence Awards created a special World Cup 2010 Stadiums Category. GIBB received a commendation (2nd place) in this category, as a key member of the Structural Joint Venture for the Cape Town Stadium, beating both the Moses Mabhida stadium and Soccer City.
