Cape Town Station Revitalisation : Bulk Electrical Services





Cape Town Station Revitalisation consisted of the upgrade of the bulk electrical services to the station and the building electrical services.  Bulk electrical services included the upgrade of the electrical supply to the station, protection scheme, back-up generator supply and high voltage switchgear.

The building services consisted of the upgrade of all the buildings electrical infrastructure including supply cables, switchgear, power, lighting requirements and wire ways for future installation.

  • Main 11 kV supply to station, which included 3 km of Arial bundle conductor
  • Upgrade of three medium voltage substations (installed capacity of 7.5 MVA)
  • Installation of standby generators and control gear with a total standby capacity of 5 MVA

    • To include Dali light control system (adjusting light levels to match natural light levels)
