Eskom Nuclear Power Station EIA



GIBB was appointed by Eskom Holdings Limited to undertake the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and compile an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for a proposed conventional nuclear power station and associated infrastructure in the Cape region, South Africa.


The services provided include:

  • Management, interpretation and consolidation of specialist studies, including geology, hydrology, oceanography, ecology, air quality, archaeology, socio-economics, meteorology, and marine biology
  • Facilitation and management of an extensive public participation  process involving client, industry, government and private stakeholders
  • Alternative analysis of five candidate sites
  • Sensitivity assessment and establishment of significance of impacts
  • Development of mitigation measures
