Medupi Power Station (Project Alpha)
New coal fired, dry cooled, six unit power station to produce 4800 MW. Fuel will be obtained from the adjacent Grootgeluk coal mine and the project will include for coal and ash conveyors, coal stockyards, coal pulverising plant, boilers, turbines, generators, dry cooling facilities, ash dumps and transmission lines. Design and documentation of the site facilitation works including for bulk earthworks to prepare a level construction platform, provision of stormwater drains of up to 2.4 m diameter and 9 m deep, 20 km of site roads, sewerage reticulation and sewage treatment works, deviation of 10 km of Provincial road including a rail level crossing elimination bridge and a conveyor bridge, stormwater and process water retention dams and boiler ash washdown collection and treatment.
