GIBB was appointed for the construction of a new shopping centre.

The lettable area is 47 000 m2 with 105 shops, undercover and outside parking.  The major tenants includes Checkers, Edgars and Game.  The total constructed area is 92 000 m2.

The buiding spans over the Mooiriver with the food court positioned in this part of the building.


Key Features

• The building has an 11 kV ring supply with seven transformers and switchgear
• The building was fitted with a lighting control system that provides the centre management with flexible control
• Special lights for plant growth were installed in the part of the building that straddles the rivers
• The entrances and food court is illuminated by indirect lighting
• A pedestrian counting system is fitted at strategic positions in the malls
• The building was fitted with smoke detection systems that interfaces with the lifts, smoke extraction. PA system and fire panels in the major tenants.  The PA system is used for evacuations and background music in the centre
• A CCTV system consisting of four digital video recorders and 50 cameras was also installed
• Four generators other than the three standby generators for the majors and the one for the centre emergency equipment were installed which were providing national and line shops with limited power
