NASREC Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Link

GIBB was appointed to provide planning and preliminary design services for the Nasrec BRT link. This is a strategic link on the City of Johannesburg’s strategic public transport network (SPTN). It will link Soweto with Nasrec (Soccer City Stadium), the CBD and the northern suburbs eg Sandton and Randburg.

In order to deal with increasing transport problems faced in JHB today, the city has introduced the Rea Vaya Bus transit System. The Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) is designed to provide high quality and adoptable transport system, which is fast and safe. Rea Vaya comprises a middle lane for large, high tech buses which will transport the public comfortably and quickly around JHB, using specific designated routes, enclosed bus stations & high tech control centre to ensure the Rea Vaya experience is a world class one.
