The Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority (GPHCDA) intends to appoint consultants to undertake Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) to examine the environmental impacts of the construction and operation of phase 1 of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Project. GPHCDA appointed GIBB to compile a generic Environmental Management Plan to be included as an addendum to all EIA reports. The EMP will be supplemented by project-specific mitigation measures as guided by the EIA findings for each project. In addition, GIBB has prepared terms of reference for EIAs to be conducted for the various projects in Phase 1A of the development project and will oversee the EIA processes.
