The Sikuphe International Airport is situated in the Lowlands of Eswatini. GIBB was appointed as the consultant responsible for the design of the airport’s critical structures.

These included the air traffic control tower, the air traffic support building and the fire station. The control tower’s unique design is that it is built on a ground level below the runway, yet is capable of reaching high enough for the ends of the runways to be visible.

It is therefore a much taller tower than typical airport towers, with a total height of 57 m. This height presented design challenges which were overcome by GIBB.
